Want my AC? You gotta rassle me!
I’ve been coming to Round Top for a few years now and all I can say is “Wow!” So much is changing and if you ask me it’s for the better! I know that things are growing, places are starting to be open year round, like The White Barn, for example, and the scuttlebutt is that some folks just don’t like that. It’s not the way things used to be, or should be. Well, I for one, LOVE IT! The way things used to be, Round Top was open in September instead of October, and for me that meant, it was HOT! Like we were being punished for our sins early hot! Like your mama don’t dance and your daddy don’t rock-n-roll hot. I mean it was…well you get the picture. Lori Smithers, owner of Fickle International and our fearless leader just LOVED being in the fields, any field really or barns and any old place she could find that came with a porta-potty, which meant I had two choices. I could not use the rest room at all, which was preferable, or I could dress for the porta potty. Classy. Now, I may be the only one having these big girl problems, you know? Where it’s so hot you can pull ’em down but not back up? Either way, like WIllie sang, it was always on my mind, so when Lori started building The White Barn, with indoor plumbing, well I felt like Ellie Mae Clampett going to Beverly Hills! Feeling the rush of that air conditioning when it’s hot and the heat when it’s cold, well I feel just like a princess! So we may be changing, evolving with the times, but if the last two years have taught us anything it’s that comfort, being in your sanctuary is not something to take for granted, so we don’t. Come see me in my natural habitat anytime now from Thursday to Saturday outside of the Fall or Spring Show and say Howdy! I look forward to meetin’ ya, and if you’ve already visited us at The Whit’s Barn well y’all come back now, ya hear?
